Senior HR Leadership Opportunity in Birmingham City Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of the HR function. We are looking for a self-motivated, inspirational and talented HR Professional to work within a recognised and established organisation based in Birmingham City Centre, with under 1000 employees.

This position is ideal for a commercially minded HR leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, supporting organisational change, strengthening employee engagement and providing strategic direction to senior stakeholders.

Working as a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation attracts, develops and retains talented employees whilst maintaining a positive and compliant working environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing the full employee lifecycle and delivering an HR function that supports both operational excellence and long-term business goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Shaping and executing the company's people and workforce strategy
• Providing expert guidance and support to managers across all areas of employee management
• Leading on complex employee relations matters and ensuring fair, consistent outcomes
• Managing organisational development, workforce planning and succession initiatives
• Supporting business change programmes and continuous improvement projects
• Reviewing and enhancing HR policies, procedures and internal processes
• Leading talent attraction, onboarding and retention activities
• Promoting a culture of accountability, engagement and professional development
• Monitoring employment legislation and maintaining organisational compliance
• Producing people-related data, trends and reports to support strategic decision-making
• Managing payroll liaison and pension-related administration
• Supporting leadership teams with performance management and employee development initiatives

Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will be an experienced HR professional with the confidence and credibility to operate at senior leadership level.

You will ideally possess:

• Previous experience leading an HR function within a medium or large organisation
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
• Experience handling sensitive and complex employee relations matters
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support business objectives
• Demonstrable experience driving organisational change and people-focused projects
• Strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience supporting payroll and employee benefits administration
• A proactive and commercially aware approach to human resources management
• CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent professional experience

Desirable Experience

• Experience within large-scale service-led organisations
• Exposure to periods of business growth, restructuring or transformation
• Delivery of employee engagement, wellbeing and culture improvement programmes
• Experience working within multi-site operations
