The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded commercial dispute resolution team is looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor to strengthen its professional negligence offering.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor with a solid background in professional negligence litigation to take on a key role within a busy and growing disputes practice.

The successful candidate will manage a varied and often complex caseload of professional negligence matters, acting for a range of clients and advising on disputes involving professional advisers and service providers. There will also be scope to play an active role in the continued development of the team's professional negligence practice.

The Role

The position will involve:

• Managing a varied caseload of professional negligence claims from initial instruction through to resolution.
• Advising clients on claims involving solicitors, accountants, surveyors, architects, financial advisers and other professional service providers.
• Handling complex and high-value disputes, including matters involving breach of duty, causation, loss and limitation.
• Drafting pleadings, letters of claim, responses and other key litigation documentation.
• Developing litigation strategies, assessing prospects of success and advising on settlement options.
• Conducting negotiations, mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Managing proceedings in the County Court and High Court, where appropriate.
• Working closely with colleagues across the wider commercial dispute resolution team.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to business development activities.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Qualified Solicitor status in England and Wales.
• A minimum of 4–5 years' post-qualification experience, with demonstrable experience in professional negligence litigation.
• A strong understanding of professional negligence claims, including the relevant legal principles, procedures and limitation issues.
• Experience managing their own caseload and handling matters with an appropriate degree of autonomy.
• Excellent technical, drafting and analytical skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership of matters and contribute to the development of the practice.
