Role – Senior Landscape Planner

Location – Birmingham

Salary – £DOE

Love Landscape Planning? Good. We've Got Something for You.

Not every Landscape Architect gets excited about writing LVIA reports, assessing viewpoints and getting stuck into planning policy. But if that's your thing, we've got an opportunity that could be right up your street.

LEAD Careers are working with a well-established landscape architecture consultancy in Birmingham that's looking for an experienced Senior Landscape Planner to join its team. We're looking for someone who knows their way around an LVIA, can confidently manage projects and enjoys the challenge of helping shape development proposals through the planning process.

You'll be joining a friendly, experienced team where your technical knowledge will be valued, your opinions will be heard, and you'll have the opportunity to get involved in a genuinely interesting mix of projects. And importantly, this isn't a role where you'll simply be churning out reports all day. There's plenty of opportunity to get involved in project discussions, advise clients and have a real influence on the work being delivered.

SENIOR LANDSCAPE PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • There's no great mystery here. If you're already working in landscape planning, you'll be familiar with much of what's involved.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing and managing LVIAs, LVAs and TVIAs across a variety of projects
  • Undertaking landscape character assessments, sensitivity studies and site appraisals
  • Providing landscape planning advice to clients and wider project teams
  • Contributing to EIAs and supporting planning applications
  • Getting out on site to undertake surveys, assess viewpoints and understand the landscape you're writing about
  • Managing your own projects, keeping things moving and making sure deadlines are met
  • Working alongside other consultants, planners and environmental specialists
  • Supporting junior colleagues and sharing your knowledge and experience
  • Essentially, we're looking for someone who can take a project, run with it and produce high-quality work without needing someone looking over their shoulder every five minutes

SENIOR LANDSCAPE PLANNER IDEAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Someone that knows their stuff when it comes to LVIA and landscape planning.
  • Ideally, you'll have:
  • A degree in Landscape Architecture
  • Solid experience producing LVIAs and other landscape planning assessments
  • A good understanding of GLVIA3 and the UK planning system
  • Strong report-writing skills and an eye for detail
  • Experience managing projects and dealing directly with clients
  • The confidence to make decisions, offer advice and take responsibility for your work
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well with others
  • If you're Chartered with the Landscape Institute, fantastic. If you're working towards it and have the right experience, we'd still be keen to hear from you

ON OFFER

  • Aside from the obvious benefit of spending your days doing something you actually enjoy, there's plenty to like about this opportunity.
  • A competitive salary that reflects your experience
  • Hybrid working and a degree of flexibility
  • An interesting and varied workload
  • A supportive team of experienced landscape professionals
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career
  • A working environment where collaboration and professional development are encouraged
  • Oh, and there's also plenty of company socials and a gym on site!
