Senior Java Developer - #2179554

Our Client in UK is recruiting a Senior Java Developer for a UK-based contract opportunity.

Although this vacancy is advertised through ProjectPie’s India-based LinkedIn page, the role is based in the United Kingdom. Applicants must already live in the UK and be eligible.

THE CONTRACT

• Rate: £400 per day, inside IR35  

• Duration: Six months initially, with potential extension and longer-term support  

• Start: Immediate availability required; commencement subject to required checks  

• Location: Birmingham, UK  

• Working arrangement: Mostly remote within the UK, with attendance at the Birmingham location whenever required  

THE ROLE

We need an experienced, hands-on senior Java developer with strong architectural judgement and ownership of delivery from design through to production support.

You will design and build robust services, contribute to architecture decisions, improve delivery pipelines and take responsibility for the quality, security and maintainability of your work.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong commercial Java development experience, including recent production work with modern, supported Java releases.

• Extensive Spring Boot, microservices and REST API development.

• Hands-on architecture and design experience, including scalability, resilience, performance and service integration.

• Practical DevOps experience, including GitLab and building, maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong engineering quality practices: automated unit and integration testing, code reviews and collaboration with QA.

• Experience working in Agile teams, breaking down requirements and delivering incrementally.

• Ownership of production issues, root-cause analysis and ongoing service improvements.

• Clear communication and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.

Quality is part of this role’s delivery responsibility. You must take ownership of testing and work with QA throughout development.

LOCATION, RIGHT TO WORK AND SECURITY

• You must currently reside in the UK and work from within the UK.

• You must be able to attend the Birmingham location when required.

• You must have permission to undertake this engagement for the full contract period. Visa sponsorship is not available.

• Existing relevant UK security clearance is preferred. Otherwise, you must be willing to undergo vetting and meet the client’s applicable clearance requirements. Eligibility and any existing clearance will be verified.
