Legacy Group Consultancy

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Sector: International Humanitarian Aid / Faith-Based Charity

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Make your fundraising career mean something.

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing faith-based international humanitarian aid charity seeking a passionate and proactive Fundraising Officer to join its Birmingham team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build their fundraising career while contributing to work that supports vulnerable communities around the world.

Working closely with an experienced Fundraising Manager, you will help deliver fundraising activity, engage supporters, build relationships and generate vital income to support the charity’s humanitarian programmes.

You don't necessarily need to have done everything before. We are interested in people with fundraising experience, as well as strong relationship-builders with transferable experience who have the drive to learn and develop.

The role

As Fundraising Officer, you will support and deliver a range of fundraising activities, helping to grow the charity's supporter base and income.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of fundraising campaigns and initiatives
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with donors and supporters
  • Supporting community fundraising activity, events and appeals
  • Engaging with individuals, community groups and potential fundraising partners
  • Helping identify new opportunities to generate income and grow supporter engagement
  • Communicating confidently with donors and supporters by phone, email and in person
  • Supporting fundraising events from planning through to delivery
  • Maintaining accurate supporter and fundraising records
  • Working closely with the Fundraising Manager to achieve fundraising targets
  • Representing the organisation professionally within communities and at external events

Who we're looking for

You could already be working within fundraising, community engagement, donor relations, events or the wider charity sector.

Alternatively, you may come from a strong sales, business development, account management or relationship-building background and be looking to use those skills within a purpose-led organisation.

We're particularly interested in people who are:

  • Confident communicators and natural relationship-builders
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable taking initiative
  • Passionate about humanitarian and charitable causes
  • Comfortable engaging with people from different communities and backgrounds
  • Target-driven while remaining compassionate and supporter-focused
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willing to attend fundraising events and community activities when required
  • Keen to learn, develop and grow within fundraising

Previous charity fundraising experience would be advantageous, but we are also open to candidates with strong transferable skills and the right attitude.

Why consider this opportunity?

This isn't simply an administrative fundraising position.

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced Fundraising Manager, gain exposure to different areas of fundraising and play a hands-on role in developing supporter relationships and generating income.

For someone looking to establish or progress their career within the charity and humanitarian sector, there is real scope to learn and make an impact.

Most importantly, your work will contribute directly to an organisation delivering humanitarian support to people and communities experiencing poverty, crisis and hardship internationally.

Faith-based environment

Our client is a faith-based humanitarian organisation, and its values and charitable work are strongly influenced by its faith ethos.

You do not need to share the organisation's faith to apply. However, you should be comfortable working within a faith-based environment, engaging with faith communities and representing the organisation's values respectfully.

Interested?

If you're an experienced fundraiser, or a brilliant relationship-builder ready to bring your skills into the charity sector, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and Legacy Group Consultancy will be in touch with suitable candidates to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
