Make a Difference in Financial Planning

We're looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join our Financial Planning team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with Specialist Financial Planners and Specialist Financial Advisers, providing technical expertise and research support across a wide range of complex financial planning cases. You'll play a key role in helping advisers deliver suitable client outcomes through high-quality analysis, recommendation development and suitability report writing.
Working across areas such as estate planning, retirement planning, pension switching and investment replacement, you'll help ensure advice is well-evidenced, compliant and focused on delivering the best outcomes for clients. Working closely with colleagues across Advice Policy, Advice Quality, Technical and Para Administration, you'll contribute to maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Your Impact
Here's how you'll make a difference:
  • Prepare complete and accurate case documentation, including research, technical analysis, calculations and suitability reports, ensuring recommendations are fully evidenced and compliant.
  • Produce product information packs, illustrations and supporting documentation for adviser meetings and client recommendations.
  • Manage assigned cases effectively, ensuring service standards, quality expectations, deadlines and agreed KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Maintain accurate records across relevant systems, including client information, case notes, research outputs and supporting documentation.
  • Provide technical support across telephone, email and web-based channels, helping advisers navigate complex planning scenarios and technical queries.
  • Deliver guidance and support on areas including estate planning, pension and retirement advice, pension switching and investment replacement.
What You'll Bring
  • Fully Diploma Qualified (Level 4) in Financial Advice or equivalent
  • Previous experience within a Paraplanner, Technical Consultant, Financial Planning or Financial Advice support role.
  • Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, protection products, tax wrappers and relevant financial planning considerations.
  • Experience researching recommendations, assessing suitability and producing high-quality suitability reports and client case files.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess client objectives, risks, charges, product features and recommendation suitability.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes, public sector pensions or paraplanning research tools would be advantageous.
Benefits That Work for You
We believe rewards should reflect the life you live. Here's what you can expect:
  • Annual bonus to recognise your contribution.
  • 28 days holiday (plus a culture day!) – rising to 30 days with service.
  • Flexible hybrid working for better work-life balance.
  • Company pension scheme – matched plus 2% (up to 10%).
  • Free secure underground Birmingham city centre parking (subject to availability, weekend use included).
  • Salary sacrifice schemes that help you provide the things that matter – to include PMI, Electric Vehicle Leasing and cashback on everyday essentials.
  • Enhanced family leave and two volunteering days to give back to causes you care about.

We're proud supporters of the ABI Making Flexible Work campaign, which means we're open to discussing flexible working, job shares, and part-time options.
If you need reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, just let us know, we're here to support you.
