Database Developer (SQL)

Salary: £45,000–£50,000

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

We’re looking for a Database Engineer with strong SQL expertise to support, troubleshoot and enhance business-critical applications. You’ll balance production support with development improvements, helping maintain reliable, efficient systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex live system issues.
• Deliver system enhancements, fixes and preventative improvements.
• Use SQL to investigate data, troubleshoot workflows and improve system performance.
• Maintain technical documentation, testing standards and code quality.
• Estimate development effort and manage multiple tasks through to completion.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of supported applications and business processes.

About You

• Strong Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T-SQL skills.
• Experience with workflow-based systems, case management and operational data.
• Ability to optimise complex queries and produce clean, maintainable code.
• Familiarity with version control, testing and software delivery processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities.
• A collaborative approach with a strong focus on ownership, quality and delivery.
