Paraplanner – Birmingham

Salary: £40,000 - £43,000

Benefits: Hybrid working, Life assurance, Income protection, Paid professional memberships

About the Company

An established financial planning practice based in Edgbaston, operating with the comprehensive backing, governance, and operational support of an expansive regional wealth management group.

Role Summary

If you are an experienced paraplanning professional seeking stability and autonomy, this role offers an established caseload within a collaborative boutique setting, backed by the security of a wider wealth management network. Taking over from a departing colleague, you will work closely with the practice principal on holistic financial strategies, with practical expertise fully valued over formal qualifications and a balanced 3/2 hybrid working pattern from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed technical research and cash-flow modelling across pensions, investments, and protection, broadening your product knowledge and sharpening your analytical capabilities.
  • Draft comprehensive, client-focused suitability reports across a diverse range of private client cases, giving you direct influence over the presentation of advice and reinforcing your technical writing skills.
  • Work in direct partnership with the firm's principal adviser on ongoing case preparation, offering you regular visibility over high-level advice strategies without unnecessary administrative layers.
  • Assess existing client portfolios and analyse complex legacy arrangements, deepening your technical mastery across holistic wealth management solutions.

Requirements
  • Proven practical experience as a Paraplanner or Technical Support Specialist within a wealth management or independent financial planning firm.
  • Strong technical understanding of core financial planning disciplines, including pensions, investments, and tax wrappers, with the ability to demonstrate this in a practical assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, compliant suitability reports and comprehensive research files.
  • A Diploma in Financial Planning is advantageous but not essential, as strong practical technical capability and hands-on experience are highly valued.

If this role isn’t quite right, it’s still worth speaking to one of our specialist team, as we may be working on something that hasn’t hit the market yet.
