UK HR Business Partner - #2173585
Teqnion
Build HR from the ground up in a growing industrial group.
About Teqnion West
Teqnion West owns and grows well-run industrial businesses across the UK and Ireland. Today that is more than 18 companies, around 250 people and over £65m in revenue, and we keep acquiring. Each company is led by its own managing director, supported by a small central team.
We are now appointing our first dedicated HR professional. You will shape how the group finds, appoints and keeps its leaders, and set the employment standards every company works to as we grow. You report directly to the Group Chief Executive and have real influence from day one.
What you will do
- Lead managing director and senior recruitment end to end, recruiting directly wherever possible and using agencies only when the role calls for it.
- Build succession plans for every managing director and critical role, and design onboarding for senior hires.
- Create the group's template contracts, handbook and core policies, and make sure every company meets them.
- Lead the people side of acquisitions, from due diligence through staff transfers under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations to integration.
- Benchmark and administer managing director pay and incentives.
- Manage our external employment law partner and advise managing directors on complex cases.
This is an advisory, standard-setting role. You will not run day-to-day HR for individual companies.
What you bring
- Generalist experience as an HR manager or senior HR business partner, ideally in a multi-site or multi-company business.
- A track record of running senior hires in house, including direct search.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment law, including the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations.
- The confidence to influence managing directors without line authority.
- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification at Level 5 or above, or equivalent experience.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to our companies.
- Experience from manufacturing or engineering, acquisitions, executive reward or setting up an HR function from scratch is a strong advantage.
Why Teqnion West
You get a blank page, a direct line to the Group Chief Executive and the backing of a listed group that buys companies to keep them. Your work will be visible in every company we own and everyone we acquire.
