Religious Studies Teacher | Birmingham & Solihull

Secondary Supply Teaching | Flexible, Short-Term & Long-Term Opportunities | November 2026 Onwards

Are you a qualified Religious Studies Teacher looking for new opportunities across Birmingham and Solihull?

Aspire People is looking to connect with enthusiastic Religious Education and Religious Studies specialists who are interested in working within secondary schools across Birmingham, Solihull and the surrounding areas.

We are particularly interested in teachers who can deliver engaging lessons, encourage thoughtful discussion and debate, and maintain strong classroom expectations.

Whether you're an experienced RE Teacher seeking a new opportunity, an ECT looking to build your experience or a Humanities specialist interested in flexible supply work, we'd like to hear from you.

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE WE RECRUITING FOR?

We are expanding our network of qualified Religious Studies Teachers for future daily supply, short-term cover, regular weekly bookings and longer-term secondary teaching assignments.

Depending on the school and placement, responsibilities may include:

- Delivering Religious Education and Religious Studies lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Teaching GCSE Religious Studies, including religious beliefs, practices and ethical themes.
- Exploring philosophical, moral and ethical questions through structured discussion.
- Encouraging pupils to develop critical thinking, reasoning and evaluation skills.
- Planning and delivering lessons that engage pupils of different abilities.
- Maintaining effective classroom routines and managing behaviour confidently.
- Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback.
- Supporting wider Humanities teaching where appropriate to your experience.

Experience teaching A-Level Religious Studies, Philosophy or Ethics would be an advantage for relevant assignments.

Longer-term placements may involve planning, marking, assessment and additional departmental responsibilities.

These are prospective opportunities across multiple secondary schools rather than a confirmed vacancy at one specific school.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are interested in teachers who have:

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Experience delivering Religious Education or Religious Studies within a secondary school.
- Strong subject knowledge across the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
- Confidence teaching GCSE Religious Studies.
- Effective classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to encourage respectful discussion of different beliefs, values and perspectives.
- Experience adapting lessons for pupils with different abilities, including SEND and EAL learners.
- A professional, adaptable and reliable approach.

Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers.

Teachers who can also deliver History, Geography, Citizenship or other Humanities subjects are particularly encouraged to highlight this in their application.
