ERP & Business Systems Manager
We’re working with an established business in Birmingham that is looking for an ERP & Business Systems Manager to take ownership of its core business systems and support the wider IT environment.
This is a broad, hands-on role centred around the company’s ERP platform, with responsibility for system administration, reporting, process improvement, user support and future systems development. You’ll also act as the main internal point of contact for day-to-day IT, working with external support providers where more specialist support is needed.
The role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving how systems are used across a business and working closely with Finance, Operations and other internal teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Take ownership of the company’s ERP platform, including configuration, user setup, permissions and master data.
- Provide day-to-day ERP support across Finance, Operations, Procurement and other teams.
- Manage reporting and dashboards, helping improve the accuracy and usefulness of business data.
- Support ERP projects including upgrades, module rollouts, integrations and process automation.
- Maintain and improve ERP processes and SOPs across areas such as finance, procurement, inventory and operations.
- Work with external ERP partners and consultants around upgrades, licensing and support.
- Support document management and workflow tools such as DocuWare.
- Provide user training and guidance to help teams get more from the systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and automate manual activity.
- Act as the main internal point of contact for wider IT issues.
- Support the company’s network, server environment, endpoints and business applications.
- Manage user accounts, access, onboarding and offboarding.
- Maintain hardware, software, licensing and supplier records.
- Keep IT documentation up to date, including backup and disaster recovery information.
- Work with external IT providers and technology suppliers, escalating specialist issues where required.
- Support the evaluation of new technology, hardware and systems.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need hands-on experience administering and supporting an ERP system, including configuration, reporting and user support.
You should also have practical experience supporting or managing IT infrastructure within an SME environment, and be comfortable troubleshooting general systems, software and network issues.
You’ll ideally be someone who is:
- comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership
- confident supporting non-technical users
- strong around process, documentation and data accuracy
- able to work with external ERP and IT support providers
- experienced in improving business systems rather than simply maintaining them
Experience with DocuWare or another workflow/document management platform would be useful, as would previous involvement in ERP implementations, migrations or major upgrades.
Why this role?
This is a good opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership rather than being one small part of a large IT function.
You’ll have the chance to take responsibility for the ERP and wider business systems environment, work closely with senior management and help shape how technology is used across the business going forward.
The role is primarily on-site in Birmingham, with occasional remote working by agreement.
If you’re an ERP Manager, Business Systems Manager, ERP Systems Manager, Applications Manager or IT Systems Manager looking for a broad role with plenty of ownership, I’d be keen to speak with you.
