Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor who can confidently manage a secondary classroom?

Aspire People is looking to expand its network of reliable and confident Cover Supervisors across East Birmingham, particularly around Small Heath, Bordesley Green, Sparkhill, Yardley and surrounding areas.

We're keen to hear from individuals who enjoy working with secondary-aged pupils, have strong behaviour management skills and can quickly establish positive classroom routines.

Whether you're looking for regular supply work, occasional days around other commitments or a longer-term position, we'd be interested in discussing your availability.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise secondary school classes during teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain focused and complete the work provided.

Your responsibilities may include:

- Supervising lessons across KS3 and KS4 using pre-prepared materials.
- Establishing clear expectations and managing classroom behaviour.
- Maintaining a calm, purposeful learning environment.
- Supporting pupils with instructions and assigned activities.
- Following school behaviour and safeguarding procedures.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons.

You will not normally be expected to plan lessons or undertake the full responsibilities of a qualified teacher.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience supervising secondary school classrooms.

Strong behaviour management is essential. You should be confident dealing with low-level disruption, maintaining professional boundaries and applying school behaviour policies consistently.

Experience working in busy secondary school environments would be particularly valuable.

We also welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates and youth workers who have relevant experience with secondary-aged pupils and the confidence to supervise a full class.

You should be reliable, adaptable and comfortable working across different subjects and year groups.

QTS is not required.

We are building our candidate pool for future daily supply, short-term cover, regular weekly bookings and longer-term Cover Supervisor assignments across East Birmingham.
