Gleeson Recruitment Group is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys balance sheet ownership, group reporting and driving financial control within a complex, multi-entity environment.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining robust controls, supporting the month-end process, and contributing to group consolidation activities.

The Opportunity

This role offers significant exposure to senior finance stakeholders and provides the chance to develop expertise across financial accounting, consolidation, controls, audit and working capital management.

You'll be responsible for ensuring balance sheet accuracy, managing intercompany processes, supporting monthly group reporting, and helping to drive continuous improvement across finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the integrity of the balance sheet, ensuring all accounts are fully reconciled, appropriately supported and accurately reflected each month.
  • Deliver a robust month-end close process through the preparation and posting of accruals, prepayments, provisions, deferred income and other balance sheet journals.
  • Maintain oversight of key control accounts, fixed assets, suspense accounts and general ledger balances, identifying and resolving issues before they impact reporting.
  • Produce insightful balance sheet reporting, providing clear analysis and commentary on significant movements and trends.
  • Cash and working capital management through the review of bank reconciliations, ledger reconciliations, aged balances and bad debt provisions.
  • Prepare and analyse working capital and cash flow reporting, ensuring balance sheet activity is accurately reflected in cash performance.
  • Act as a key owner of intercompany accounting, ensuring balances are reconciled, recharge processes are completed accurately and differences are proactively resolved.
  • Support the monthly group reporting cycle, including consolidation activities, elimination entries, consolidation adjustments and validation of consolidated financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated reporting, ensuring compliance with group accounting requirements.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, preparing supporting schedules and responding to technical accounting queries across balance sheet, consolidation and intercompany areas.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial controls, reporting processes and reconciliation procedures across the finance function.
  • Support wider finance projects and provide ad hoc analytical and reporting assistance as required.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who possess:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
  • Previous experience of month-end reporting processes.
  • Exposure to intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments.
  • Understanding of group consolidations.
  • Strong Excel and systems skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical capability.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business.

What's On Offer?

  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Broad exposure across financial accounting and group reporting.
  • Opportunity to work alongside an experienced finance leadership team.
