Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect – Private Cloud & Managed Services

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Location: UK – Remote (Occasional Customer Travel)

The Opportunity

We're working with an established and growing UK IT solutions and managed services provider, delivering complex infrastructure, private cloud and hybrid cloud solutions to organisations across the UK.

They're looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect to join their presales team, taking ownership of designing end-to-end infrastructure solutions across private cloud, data centre, virtualisation, storage, networking and disaster recovery.

This is a solutions architecture and presales-focused position, rather than a hands-on implementation role. You'll work closely with customers, sales teams and technical specialists to understand business requirements, design commercially viable solutions and support opportunities from initial discovery through to technical handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical presales engagements, including customer discovery, requirements gathering, solution design and technical presentations.
• Architect end-to-end private cloud, data centre and managed infrastructure solutions.
• Design solutions spanning compute, virtualisation, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), storage, networking, backup and disaster recovery.
• Produce high-level solution designs, technical proposals, architecture documentation and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Work closely with sales teams to develop technically sound, commercially competitive proposals.
• Engage with technology vendors and internal specialists to develop solutions aligned with customer requirements.
• Support customer workshops, technical discussions, tender responses and solution presentations.
• Provide technical oversight throughout the sales cycle, ensuring successful handover to delivery teams.

Technical Experience

We're looking for someone with broad infrastructure architecture experience across several of the following technology areas. You don't need experience with every vendor listed, but you should be comfortable designing solutions across the wider infrastructure stack.

Virtualisation & Hyperconverged Infrastructure

• VMware vSphere, ESXi, vSAN, Nutanix AHV, Hyper-V
• Nutanix, Dell VxRail, VMware Cloud Foundation or similar HCI platforms

Servers & Compute

• Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Cisco UCS, Lenovo or IBM Power
• Enterprise x86 server infrastructure and compute architecture

Enterprise Storage

• Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, IBM FlashSystem
• SAN, NAS, storage replication, resilience and high availability

Networking & Security

• Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto or similar
• LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, network segmentation and connectivity

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Veeam, Zerto, Commvault, Rubrik or similar
• Backup architecture, disaster recovery, replication, RPO/RTO and business continuity

Private & Hybrid Cloud

• Private cloud platforms, managed hosting and hybrid infrastructure
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure, Azure Local or AWS would be advantageous

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience in an Infrastructure Solutions Architect, Presales Architect or Technical Architect position.
• A background working for an MSP, managed hosting provider, IT consultancy or infrastructure solutions provider.
• Proven experience designing complex, end-to-end infrastructure solutions rather than specialising exclusively in one technology.
• Strong customer-facing and presales experience, including technical discovery, solution design, presentations and proposal development.
• Commercial awareness, with the ability to balance technical requirements, performance, resilience and cost.
• Confidence engaging with technical stakeholders, IT Directors and senior decision-makers.
• Experience with Nutanix and/or IBM Power would be particularly advantageous, although not essential.
