Health And Safety Advisor - #2166627
Full Circle Technical Recruitment
Health and Safety Advisor
Permanent | Midlands / South Midlands / M4–M5 Corridor | Hybrid & Site-Based
Are you an experienced Health and Safety Advisor who enjoys being out on site, working with people and making a genuine difference to safety culture?
We're working with an established engineering organisation specialising in the UK water and wastewater sector, looking to appoint a proactive and engaging Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor.
This isn't a role focused purely on paperwork or enforcing procedures. Our client is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with operational teams, influence positive behaviours and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.
You'll work across a variety of engineering and construction projects, helping to ensure that health, safety and environmental standards are consistently maintained and improved.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Compliance Director, you'll provide professional HSE advice and support across the business, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, engineers and subcontractors.
You'll be a visible presence on site, helping teams identify and manage risks, recognise good practice and continually improve their approach to workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out regular site inspections, HSE audits and behavioural safety observations.
- Providing practical guidance on health and safety legislation, environmental responsibilities and safe working practices.
- Reviewing risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits to work and other safe systems of work.
- Supporting incident, accident, near-miss and environmental investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Preparing clear, action-focused inspection reports and following up on improvements.
- Coaching operational teams and managers to encourage positive safety behaviours.
- Supporting toolbox talks, safety briefings, HSE initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
- Building effective relationships with employees, contractors, clients and key stakeholders.
- Challenging unsafe practices constructively and taking appropriate action where serious risks are identified.
- Supporting the development and improvement of health, safety and environmental procedures and standards.
We're interested in speaking with experienced Health and Safety Advisors, HSE Advisors or SHEQ Advisors who have worked within engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure or other site-based environments.
Ideally you'll have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- A recognised environmental qualification.
- Previous experience in a health and safety advisory role within a relevant operational or project environment.
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and producing practical recommendations.
- Environmental awareness and experience supporting responsible site operations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels.
- A positive, pragmatic approach, with the confidence to challenge when required.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
Experience within the water or wastewater industry would be particularly relevant, although candidates from other engineering, construction or utilities backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Location and Working Pattern
This is a hybrid and field-based position, ideally suited to someone living in the Midlands, South Midlands or along the M4/M5 corridor.
The typical working pattern includes:
- Approximately one day per week at the London office.
- Around two days per week visiting project sites across the UK.
- Remaining time working remotely, depending on operational requirements.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
You'll be joining an established and growing engineering business where health, safety and environmental responsibility are integral to project delivery.
It's an opportunity to influence how teams work, promote continuous improvement and help create a working environment where safety is everyone's responsibility.
If you're a hands-on HSE professional who enjoys collaborating with operational teams and wants to have a positive impact across varied engineering projects, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
