An established social housing contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function across a portfolio of planned maintenance, refurbishment and decarbonisation projects throughout the West Midlands.

This is a senior leadership role offering responsibility for a team of Quantity Surveyors, commercial strategy, client relationships and profitable project delivery.

With a strong order book and a reputation for quality delivery, they continue to secure long-term frameworks and invest in their commercial teams to support sustainable growth.

Description

  • Lead the commercial management of multiple social housing contracts across the West Midlands.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
  • Ensure robust cost control, budgeting and financial reporting across projects.
  • Oversee procurement activities and subcontractor management.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Maximise contract profitability through effective change control and value management.
  • Prepare and review valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners.
  • Support senior leadership with commercial strategy and business planning.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and adherence to company procedures.

Profile

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor within the social housing, refurbishment, planned maintenance or retrofit sectors.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management principles and contract administration.
  • Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of cost reporting, forecasting and risk management.
  • Commercially astute with a track record of delivering profitable outcomes.
  • Full UK driving licence.
