Management Accountant/ Finance Analyst

Birmingham, 2-3 days a week onsite


SG Partnership is delighted to be partnering with a private equity-backed retail business to recruit a Management Accountant/ Finance Analyst into its growing finance team.


The business is entering an exciting phase of its growth journey, with a clear strategy focused on expanding its market presence, strengthening operational performance and accelerating growth through both organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions. With significant investment in its people, systems and financial infrastructure, the business is focused on building a scalable, data-driven operation that can support its longer term ambitions.

Key Responsibilities


  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Produce insightful financial and operational analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to support commercial decision-making.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and KPI reporting, providing accurate financial information to support business planning.
  • Work closely with Finance Business Partners, supporting reporting requirements and providing analysis to operational stakeholders.
  • Develop and enhance management information, financial models and reporting tools to improve the quality and accessibility of financial data.
  • Support finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Contribute to post-acquisition integration projects, supporting the alignment of financial reporting, systems, controls and processes across newly acquired businesses.
  • Support wider finance and commercial projects, providing analytical input and financial insight as the business continues to grow.


Candidate Profile


  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA), with experience gained in a management accounting, finance analyst or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, management accounts preparation and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and translate data into meaningful commercial insight.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with confidence working with large data sets, financial models and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
  • A proactive, commercially minded individual who enjoys problem-solving and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, managing multiple priorities and taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • An enthusiastic team player with a genuine interest in developing broader finance, commercial and project experience.
