eNL Legal Recruitment
Head of Planning | Birmingham | National Law Firm | Partner Level

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an established Planning Partner to take the lead in developing and growing a planning practice within a national law firm.

This is a strategic appointment for a well-connected planning lawyer with a strong client following, established market contacts and the ambition to build a successful practice. The firm is looking for someone who can bring the relationships, commercial drive and strategic vision needed to grow the offering and strengthen its position in the market.

The Opportunity

Taking responsibility for the planning practice, you will have the opportunity to shape its future direction, develop new business opportunities and build on relationships across the property, development and infrastructure sectors.

Working alongside colleagues across the wider firm, you will be well placed to identify cross-referral opportunities, expand the client base and develop a strong profile within the market.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of a practice and play a key role in its future success.

The Role

Lead and develop the planning practice, setting the strategy for future growth.

Advise clients on a broad range of planning matters, including planning applications, appeals, development consents and planning agreements.

Develop relationships with developers, housebuilders, landowners, investors and public sector organisations.

Generate new business through an established network of contacts and a demonstrable client following.

Identify opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues across real estate, construction, infrastructure and other complementary practice areas.

Raise the profile of the planning team and strengthen its reputation in the market.

Play an active role in the future development and recruitment of the team.

The Candidate

You will be an established Planning Partner or senior planning lawyer with a strong technical background and a proven ability to develop a successful practice.

You will bring:

A strong reputation in the planning market.

An established client following and a network of relevant professional contacts — both are essential.

A demonstrable track record of business development and generating new work.

The commercial acumen and strategic vision to lead and grow a practice.

The ability to build lasting client relationships and develop opportunities across a wider national platform.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take a leading role within a national law firm, with the scope to shape the planning offering, develop the client base and drive future growth.

For a planning lawyer with the right following, contacts and ambition, this represents an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.
