Curriculum Focus
Purpose of the role
To lead and develop curriculum, teaching quality and pupil achievement across the school, ensuring all pupils, including those with diverse needs, receive a high-quality, broad, balanced and coherent education.
As Assistant Headteacher, you will champion evidence-based teaching practice and professional development, creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment that supports pupils' social, emotional and behavioural needs, underpinned by a trauma-informed, therapeutic ethos. You will model the organisation's values and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct at all times.
The school provides a broad curriculum including a range of GCSEs and enrichment activities focused on preparation for adulthood.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of the curriculum - Ensuring it is accessible and engaging for young people with complex and diverse needs
- Ensure statutory curriculum requirements are met
- Monitor teaching quality - Lesson observations, pupil feedback
- Utilise assessment data to identify gaps in learning and lead interventions to improve outcomes
Requirements:
- QTS
- Proven experience leading curriculum development
- Understanding of curriculum design and assessment
- Experience using data to inform teaching strategies
