What you'll do:
- Advise clients on a broad range of contentious private client matters including Inheritance Act claims, challenges to the validity of wills, trust disputes, estate administration disputes, Court of Protection-related issues, and other complex disputes.
- Manage a varied caseload efficiently while delivering high-quality legal advice tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
- Communicate effectively with clients in sensitive situations by providing clear, practical guidance throughout the dispute resolution process.
- Work collaboratively with experienced specialists within the team to ensure successful outcomes for clients and continued growth of the practice.
- Develop technical knowledge proactively by staying up-to-date with relevant legal developments and best practices in contentious trusts and probate.
- Contribute positively to a supportive team environment by sharing expertise and assisting colleagues as needed.
- Engage in business development activities by building professional relationships with referrers and intermediaries to expand the team's reach.
- Support junior colleagues through mentoring or development initiatives when appropriate.
- Participate in responsible business programmes including pro bono work, community investment activities, and environmental sustainability efforts.
- Maintain high standards of trust, integrity, and professionalism throughout all aspects of case management.
What you bring:
- Qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive in England & Wales is essential for this position.
- Experience advising clients on contentious probate, trust disputes, estate administration conflicts, or related private client matters is required.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining high standards of legal advice across various dispute types.
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with clients facing sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
- Proven negotiation abilities coupled with sound dispute resolution techniques for achieving positive outcomes.
- Commitment to collaborative teamwork demonstrated by supporting colleagues within an inclusive environment.
- Proactive approach towards developing technical knowledge through ongoing learning and engagement with professional networks.
- Interest in business development activities such as building relationships with referrers or intermediaries is advantageous.
- Experience advising high-net-worth individuals or handling matters involving trusts, business assets or international elements would be beneficial.
- Membership or familiarity with ACTAPS, STEP, ConTra or other relevant professional networks is desirable.
