Payroll Migration Specialist

Location: Birmingham
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract
Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid

About the Company

Our client is a well-established national services business with a successful track record spanning more than 40 years. Operating through a nationwide network, the organisation provides outsourced services to businesses across a broad range of sectors and has developed a strong presence throughout the UK.

The business continues to invest in its systems and technology, with a focus on improving efficiency, strengthening processes and supporting its wider network as it continues to develop.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Migration Specialist to join the business on a fixed-term contract and play a key role in an important payroll transformation project.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will support the migration of multiple monthly payrolls from an existing payroll platform onto Sage 50 Payroll, ensuring data is accurately cleansed, reconciled and transferred.

This is a hands-on role that will combine payroll expertise, data migration and stakeholder support. The position is hybrid, with occasional travel to other UK locations where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver payroll migrations across multiple business locations
  • Cleanse, reconcile and validate payroll data ahead of migration
  • Configure new payrolls within Sage 50 Payroll, including pay elements and associated data
  • Ensure migrated payroll information is accurate and ready for processing
  • Provide training and support to employees throughout the migration process
  • Review existing payroll processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Resolve payroll and migration queries while ensuring project deadlines are achieved
  • Maintain compliance with relevant UK payroll legislation and best practice

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • At least 3 years' experience working with end-to-end payroll, ideally within a high-volume environment
  • Strong practical experience using Sage 50 Payroll
  • Previous experience of payroll implementation and/or payroll data migration
  • A strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including Auto Enrolment and RTI
  • Good knowledge of gross payroll, including overtime, holiday pay, wage records and time & attendance data
  • Strong reconciliation and data validation skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to train and support colleagues through systems and process changes
  • A self-motivated and resilient approach, with the ability to manage your own workload and work to project deadlines

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of a significant payroll migration project within an established national business.

You'll have the opportunity to use both your technical payroll and systems experience, working closely with the wider business to deliver successful migrations and improve payroll processes.
