Accountant (12 Month Fixed-Term Contract)
Birmingham | Hybrid Working (2-3 Days Office Based) £36,000 - £38,000 + Benefits
Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a global leader in building and civil engineering in the recruitment of an Accountant to join their UK head office finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. The role is based in Birmingham and offers hybrid working, with the opportunity for extension or progression onto future projects.
Reporting directly to the UK Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function and ensuring the smooth delivery of financial reporting and operational accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes.
Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations.
Produce detailed monthly cost reports.
Support project recharges and invoicing activities.
Process invoices and expenses across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Prepare treasury reports and post bank transactions.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor aged debtors and creditors.
Assist with general accounting duties and ad hoc finance activities as required.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
Qualified or part-qualified accountant.
Experienced within a finance and accounting environment.
Advanced user of Excel, including formulas, pivots and lookups.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
Flexible, proactive and keen to learn.
Experience within construction or engineering would be advantageous.
Knowledge of Sage X3 would be beneficial.
Package
Salary of £36,000 - £38,000 per annum.

Potential retention bonus payable at the end of the contract.
