Elite Personnel is delighted to be supporting a confidential client with the appointment of an experienced Account Manager to join their commercial team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Account Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of products and customers, driving sales, profitability, category performance and customer growth.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with key retail customers and suppliers, identify new business opportunities and use market and customer insight to develop effective category strategies. You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Technical, Development and Production teams to deliver commercially successful products and propositions.
The Role
As Account Manager, you will have responsibility for the commercial performance of your designated portfolio, including sales, pricing, margins, ranging and promotional activity.
You will:
- Manage key customer relationships and the P&L performance of your portfolio.
- Deliver sales and gross profit targets against agreed budgets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with procurement teams, customers and suppliers.
- Manage the marketing and sales activity across your product portfolio.
- Identify market, category and consumer trends and translate these into commercial opportunities.
- Develop category strategies using customer data, market intelligence and external information sources.
- Lead regular category reviews with customers, presenting recommendations around NPD, promotions, merchandising and packaging.
- Identify opportunities for new products and new markets and manage these through the NPD process.
- Develop existing customer accounts while actively identifying new customer opportunities.
- Create and deliver bespoke customer category plans.
- Prepare commercial proposals, reports and presentations for customers, senior management and the Board.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a commercially driven Account Manager who can combine strong relationship management with analytical and strategic thinking.
You'll ideally have experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, retail, grocery or a related commercial environment, with a strong understanding of customer and category management.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience managing customer accounts and commercial relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, margins and P&L performance.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with confidence working with spreadsheets and customer data.
- Experience interpreting market, category and consumer data to identify opportunities.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Experience developing customer or category plans.
- An understanding of NPD and product development processes.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
