Management Accountant - #2155181

This is a hands-on Management Accountant role focused on producing management accounts, analysing financial performance and providing meaningful commentary to support business decisions.

You'll take ownership of key finance processes, drive continuous improvements and play an important role within a growing and evolving finance function.

A company in the retail industry based in Birmingham.

Description

• Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
• Prepare journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Analyse financial performance and provide detailed commentary.
• Investigate variances and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Maintain strong balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
• Support the development of management reporting and business insight.
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Take ownership of the fixed asset register.
• Oversee expenses and company card processes.
• Support VAT returns, external audits and statutory reporting.
• Manage National Statistics submissions and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Identify and drive process improvements across finance systems, controls and reporting.

Profile

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

• Experience producing or significantly contributing to monthly management accounts.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation and financial control experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel capabilities.
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in the detail.
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in improving processes and reporting.

Experience of working within a changing or growing business environment would be advantageous.

Knowledge of Pegasus Opera would be beneficial but is not essential.

You will ideally be:

• Qualified, part-qualified or studying towards CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or
• Able to demonstrate equivalent management accounting experience.
