ASD Teaching Support - #2155088

Bright Star Talent are currently recruiting for an experienced ASD Teaching Support Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Birmingham, supporting students aged 11–19.

The role will involve providing day-to-day support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them access learning and develop their confidence within the school environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with students who may display challenging behaviour and will be able to remain calm and consistent when managing difficult situations.

The Role

• Supporting students aged 11–19 with ASD and additional needs
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Helping students access lessons and take part in school activities
• Supporting students with communication, social and emotional needs
• Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Following individual support and behaviour plans
• Building positive relationships with students
• Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
• Helping create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience supporting students or young people with ASD
• Experience working with challenging behaviour
• SEN school or specialist setting experience is highly desirable
• Patient, resilient and confident when supporting students with additional needs
• Good understanding of autism and different communication needs
• Able to work as part of a wider school team
• Must have a DBS on the Update Service
