Business Development Manager

Salary: Circa £38,000+ depending on experience + Bonus & Bens
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and well-connected Business Development Manager to join a growing organisation and develop new employer partnerships across the West Midlands.
This is a relationship-led business development role, ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the business community, attending networking events and building strong relationships with employers, HR professionals and senior decision-makers.
You will identify the challenges businesses are facing around recruitment, retention, skills and workforce development, and introduce relevant apprenticeship and training solutions to help address those needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new employer relationships and generate business opportunities across the West Midlands.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners, senior leaders, HR professionals and other key stakeholders.
- Identify employer needs and introduce appropriate apprenticeship, training and workforce development solutions.
- Represent the organisation at networking events, business forums, industry meetings and other relevant events.
- Build, manage and maintain a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Convert new opportunities into successful employer partnerships and learner starts.
- Achieve and exceed agreed business development, sales and learner start targets.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth and positive client journey.
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, commercially minded and comfortable developing relationships at all levels.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in B2B sales, business development or employer engagement.
- An established network within the West Midlands business community.
- A proactive approach to networking, with experience attending business events and generating opportunities through relationship building.
- A strong track record of winning new business and developing existing accounts.
- Confidence engaging with business owners, senior leaders and other decision-makers.
- A consultative approach to sales, with the ability to understand business challenges and identify appropriate solutions.
- A self-motivated and target-driven approach.
- Own transport and the flexibility to travel across the region.
