DT Technician - #2154034

Are you an organised, practical, and proactive individual with experience supporting Design and Technology departments? We are currently recruiting for a full-time DT Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in South Birmingham on a long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong workshop skills, knowledge of health and safety procedures, and a passion for supporting students' learning within a busy Design Technology environment.


Your new role
As a DT Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching staff and students across the Design Technology department. You will be responsible for preparing materials and equipment, maintaining workshop resources, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing tools, equipment, and materials for practical lessons
• Maintaining and servicing machinery and workshop equipment where appropriate
• Supporting teachers with lesson preparation and demonstrations
• Managing stock levels and ordering supplies as required
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
• Assisting with displays, projects, and practical activities across the department

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician, or similar role
• Strong practical skills and confidence working with tools and equipment
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop setting
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A positive and proactive approach to supporting staff and students
