The Opportunity

Robert Half are a retained search partner for a market leading, UK-based professional services organisation seeking an experienced Senior Head of Finance to lead a significant finance function supporting a diverse portfolio of clients and business operations.

This is a highly visible leadership position, responsible for driving financial performance, governance, reporting excellence, service delivery, and continuous improvement across a complex and growing operation. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in shaping strategy, commercial outcomes, and ensuring best-in-class financial processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Lead the overall finance strategy, operating model, and service delivery framework.
• Partner with executive leadership to support business growth and operational performance.
• Build strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Support commercial initiatives, business development activity, and client presentations.
• Act as the senior point of escalation for complex financial matters.

Control & Governance

• Ensure robust financial governance, controls, and risk management processes are maintained.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and internal policies.
• Manage internal and external audit relationships.
• Monitor and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Deliver high-quality governance reporting to senior leadership.

Reporting & Commercial

• Drive the production of accurate, timely, and commercially focused management information.
• Develop meaningful financial reporting, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
• Support strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis.
• Translate complex financial information for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a sizeable finance team.
• Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support succession planning, talent development, and professional qualifications.
• Ensure appropriate resource planning and organisational capability to support future growth.

Transformation

• Champion finance transformation initiatives and operational improvements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and enhance efficiency.
• Drive the adoption of technology, automation, and data-driven decision making.
• Lead change programmes that improve service delivery and commercial performance.

About You

We are seeking a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management and leadership capability.

You will ideally possess:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant senior finance leadership experience within a complex environment.
• Proven experience leading large finance teams through growth and change.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, risk management, and compliance.
• Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
• A track record of delivering operational improvement, transformation, and process optimisation initiatives.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
