Quality Technician (Engineering)

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 DOE
Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–3:45pm | Friday 7:30am–1:30pm

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Improvement Inspector / Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business and play a key role in supporting quality, process improvement and continuous improvement across the operation.

This is a hands-on, shop-floor-based role working closely with the Production, Process Engineering and Quality teams. You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day quality and processing issues, while also driving structured improvements that enhance product quality, reliability, efficiency and overall operational performance.

The successful candidate will be practical, quality-focused and solutions-driven, with the confidence to investigate problems, work with suppliers and production teams, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of quality and process controls within the manufacturing environment.
  
  
• Support the identification, investigation and resolution of daily production quality issues.
  
  
• Manage supplier quality defect rejection reporting and support the resolution of non-conformances.
  
  
• Work directly with suppliers on the inspection and validation of components and parts.
  
  
• Ensure corrective actions are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  
  
• Identify and deliver quality improvement projects to improve operational performance.
  
  
• Collect, analyse and monitor quality data to identify trends, variation and opportunities for improvement.
  
  
• Support compliance with the company's Quality Management System.
  
  
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and the release of new projects, including quality inspection and part homologation.
  
  
• Review and improve process control activities to reduce variation and improve consistency.
  
  
• Create and maintain working instructions, quality documentation and key process information.
  
  
• Support product audits and wider internal and external quality activities.
  
  
• Provide technical and quality support to customers where required.
  
  

 

• Support the Product Evaluation Centre during holiday periods.
  
  
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles throughout the business.
  
  
• Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve efficiency, productivity and reduce costs.
  
  
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.

About You

We are looking for someone who is quality-focused, practical and solutions-oriented, with the ability to work confidently at all levels of the business.

You will ideally have experience within a manufacturing, engineering or quality environment and be comfortable working hands-on within a production setting.

You should have:

• Minimum 5 years' experience within a production/manufacturing environment.
  
  
• Experience working directly with suppliers and dealing with supplier quality issues.
  
  
• Experience working with quality systems and processes.
  
  
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  
  
• Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  
  
• The ability to collect, interpret and use data to drive improvements.
  
  
• A proactive approach and the ability to work using your own initiative.
  
  
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with production teams, engineers and suppliers.
  
  
• A good team-player mentality.
  
  
• A flexible approach to supporting the wider business.
  
  
• A genuine interest in quality, continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
  
  

What the Role Offers

• £30,000 – £36,000 salary, depending on experience.
