Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience

We’re currently recruiting for a Trainee Electrical Estimator to join a successful nationwide electrical contractor based in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual looking to build a long-term career within electrical estimating.

You’ll receive support and training from experienced estimators and industry professionals, gaining valuable hands-on experience across the full tendering process while developing your technical, commercial and estimating knowledge.

The Role

As a Trainee Electrical Estimator, you’ll support the preparation and completion of electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Working alongside experienced estimators and the Bid Director, you’ll gain exposure to commercial and industrial electrical projects and develop an understanding of pricing, tender documentation, supplier quotations and commercial requirements.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is keen to learn and progress within the electrical construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications.
• Support the preparation of electrical estimates and tender submissions.
• Raise technical queries and Requests for Further Information to clarify tender requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with technical and commercial evaluations of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to gather project information.
• Assist with preparing tender qualifications, pricing schedules and offer letters.
• Maintain accurate records of tender documentation and estimate calculations.
• Develop proficiency in estimating software and learn industry best practices.
• Work alongside experienced estimators to develop your technical and commercial understanding.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, organised and keen to develop a career within electrical estimating.

You’ll ideally have:

• An interest in electrical engineering, construction or estimating.
• Electrical qualifications or be currently working towards them.
• Good IT and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Good communication skills and a genuine willingness to learn.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A positive attitude, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to work.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous, although training can be provided:

• Previous experience within the electrical, construction or engineering sector.
• Knowledge of electrical installations or electrical design principles.
• Experience using estimating software.
• An understanding of commercial and industrial construction projects.
