Maintenance Manager

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a specialist operation in Birmingham with the appointment of a Maintenance Manager.

This is a key leadership position responsible for the maintenance function across a complex energy generation facility. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team, oversee contractors and take ownership of planned and reactive maintenance, reliability, statutory inspections and outage delivery.

The role will suit an experienced Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor with a strong industrial process background. Experience within power generation, biomass or energy from waste would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager

• Lead, coach and develop the multidisciplinary maintenance team across mechanical, electrical and multi skilled disciplines.

• Own the maintenance programme and CMMS, ensuring preventative maintenance, asset records, backlog management and job planning are effectively controlled.

• Coordinate breakdown response, investigate recurring failures and deliver root cause and reliability improvement actions.

• Plan and deliver outages, managing scope, resources, contractors, spares, schedules and expenditure.

• Ensure maintenance activities meet required safety, statutory inspection, quality and compliance standards, including PSSR, LOLER and COSHH requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant engineering qualification, recognised apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable technical experience.

• Proven maintenance management or supervisory experience within an industrial process environment.

• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance knowledge, including fault finding, preventative maintenance and root cause investigation.

• Experience using a CMMS to plan maintenance, control backlog and report performance, alongside experience of contractor and outage management.

• Strong leadership, commercial awareness and organisational skills, with the flexibility to participate in an on call rota.
