An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a large public sector organisation within its Governance Team, supporting senior Cabinet Members and key stakeholders. Based in Birmingham city centre, this is an ongoing temporary contract offering the chance to work within a fast-paced and high-profile environment where professionalism, discretion and excellent organisational skills are essential.
Your new role
As Personal Assistant, you will provide comprehensive executive and administrative support to Cabinet Members and the wider Governance function. You will be responsible for managing complex diaries, coordinating meetings and events, arranging travel and accommodation, and ensuring all relevant papers and documentation are prepared and distributed in advance.You will organise and support internal and external meetings, prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, follow up actions and act as a central point of contact for a wide range of stakeholders. The role will involve handling correspondence and enquiries from senior officers, elected members, government representatives, external organisations and members of the public, often dealing with sensitive and confidential information.Working closely with colleagues across Democratic Services and Communications, you will help coordinate press releases, support service improvements, contribute to training initiatives and assist with the implementation of new systems and processes. You will also play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the office and maintaining effective communication across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous experience in a Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant or senior administrative support role within a busy and demanding environment. Exceptional diary management and organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, with confidence in dealing with stakeholders at all levels. Experience of arranging meetings, taking formal minutes, managing confidential information and producing high-quality correspondence is highly desirable. Candidates should be proactive, professional and capable of working independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Experience within a local government, public sector or governance environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
