Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working)

Salary: Up to £46,000

Contract: Full-time permanent role.

Nationwide Recruitment Service is looking for a proactive and technically skilled Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's IT team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting, maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure, cloud platforms and end-user environment.

You will help ensure our systems remain secure, reliable and available whilst supporting our transition from traditional on-premises services to a cloud-first operating model.

Working across a varied technology estate, you will collaborate with colleagues and third-party suppliers to deliver high-quality IT services, support business-critical systems and contribute to infrastructure improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, support and continually improve cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, availability and security across the IT estate.
• Support Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.
• Assist with infrastructure projects, upgrades and cloud migrations.
• Manage and support servers, networks, storage and virtual environments.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and problems.
• Implement security best practices and support vulnerability management activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures and system records.
• Work with third-party suppliers and technology partners to deliver effective solutions.
• Contribute to business continuity, backup and disaster recovery processes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues across the organisation.

Skills & Experience

We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in some of the following areas:

• Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Windows Server administration.
• Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and firewalls.
• Endpoint management tools such as Intune.
• Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Cyber security best practices and infrastructure security.
• PowerShell scripting would be advantageous.

Qualifications

The following would be beneficial, although we welcome applications from candidates with relevant practical experience:

• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent.
• Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) or equivalent.
• CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Relevant degree, apprenticeship or professional IT qualification.
