Product Manager - Payroll Systems - #2148925

Fancy working with an established, growth-stage UK Software product company (B2B SaaS), who are building their own payroll system from the ground up? If so, we are looking for a Payroll systems experienced Product Manager / Owner to take the lead! The build is well advanced, but it needs someone with genuine product discipline and deep payroll expertise to finalise the spec, close the gaps and get it ready for customers to use. This is a newly created role, and you would be the first person to bring professional product ownership to it.

Location: Birmingham area office, mostly remote with occasional time required in the office. Very flexible location wise though. Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 basic, plus benefits package.

• Own the payroll product end to end: requirements baseline, backlog, roadmap and release plan
• Work day to day with engineering and the internal payroll team, testing changes yourself where needed
• Act as the go-to payroll authority for the teams, from a Product point of view.
• Shape the long-term payroll product strategy & roadmap.

• Deep, current UK payroll knowledge - PAYE, NIC, RTI, statutory payments, pensions and auto-enrolment
• Demonstrable product management experience in software: discovery, requirements, backlog ownership and shipping releases
• Experience moving payrolls between systems, including data migration, parallel running and reconciliation would be ideal.
• Strong written communication - comfortable producing specifications others can act on without you in the room
• Desirable: high-volume hourly-paid workforce exposure, and/or CIPP qualification

• Genuine ownership - you're the first person in this seat, shaping the product from spec through to market leadership
