Working Pattern: Office and field-based, with travel to citizens’ homes and installation sites

We are recruiting an experienced Equipment Team Lead to manage the end-to-end delivery of specialist equipment adaptations within a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) environment.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role, responsible for managing equipment cases from survey and quotation through approval, installation, completion and final invoicing.

The successful candidate will combine team leadership, process ownership and strong attention to detail with experience of managing suppliers, contractors, installations and quality standards.

The role

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the full equipment adaptation process from survey through to completion.
  • Leading and supporting the Equipment Team to ensure cases progress efficiently.
  • Reviewing quotation packs for accuracy, completeness and supporting evidence.
  • Checking surveys, quotations, photographs, drawings, measurements and required documentation.
  • Ensuring asbestos and Health & Safety requirements are met where applicable.
  • Reviewing equipment requirements against the approved assessment and scope.
  • Identifying missing information, duplicated costs, unsupported additions and potential variation risks.
  • Reviewing supplier quotations and associated works for accuracy and value.
  • Returning incomplete or non-compliant cases with clear actions for correction.
  • Progressing approved cases through Purchase Order and mobilisation.
  • Monitoring outstanding Purchase Orders and ensuring delays are followed up.
  • Tracking installation dates and maintaining regular progress updates.
  • Escalating delayed, urgent or non-progressing cases.
  • Acting as the operational escalation point for technical, access, supplier or citizen issues.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance against quality, timescale and documentation standards.
  • Undertaking or coordinating equipment quality checks and sign-off.
  • Reviewing completion packs, certificates, warranties, photographs and handover documentation.
  • Ensuring final invoicing does not proceed until required evidence and approvals are complete.
  • Monitoring aged cases, delayed installations, rejected packs and outstanding documentation.
  • Managing team workloads and ensuring actions are owned and progressed.
  • Leading case reviews, one-to-ones and team meetings.
  • Maintaining accurate records and clear audit trails.
  • Monitoring KPIs and operational performance.
  • Identifying recurring contractor or internal process issues and implementing improvements.
  • Supporting audits, reporting and continuous improvement.
About you

You will have experience managing or supervising a busy operational service involving multiple live cases, suppliers, contractors or installations.

You should have:

  • Experience in team leadership or operational supervision.
  • Experience managing multiple live projects, cases or installations.
  • Experience managing external contractors or suppliers.
  • Experience reviewing quotations, scopes and supporting documentation.
  • Strong document-control and quality-assurance skills.
  • Experience monitoring KPIs, deadlines and operational performance.
  • The ability to review drawings, measurements, photographs and installation information.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify missing or inconsistent evidence.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety, risk management and asbestos controls.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Strong organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence challenging poor performance or non-compliance.
  • A professional and compassionate approach when dealing with disabled, elderly or vulnerable citizens.
Desirable experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
  • Housing adaptations.
  • Disabled adaptations.
  • Community equipment.
  • Social housing.
  • Healthcare or social care.
  • Specialist equipment installations.
  • Stairlifts.
  • Through-floor lifts.
  • Ceiling-track hoists.
  • Mobility or accessibility equipment.
  • Occupational Therapy services.
  • Local authority environments.

Knowledge of LOLER, BS EN 81-40, BS 5900 or similar equipment compliance standards would also be beneficial.

Additional requirements

A full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business travel are required.

The role will involve attending citizens’ homes and installation sites where operational review or quality sign-off is required.

A satisfactory DBS check may be required.

The ideal candidate

This role would suit someone currently working as an Equipment Team Leader, Equipment Manager, Adaptations Manager, DFG Manager, Installation Manager, Community Equipment Manager, Service Delivery Manager, Operations Team Leader, Contracts Manager or Project Manager.
