Full-Time (Birmingham, West Midlands) £12.71 per hour + £8.72 per hour for sleep-in shifts
Jordan Xavier Connect Ltd is looking for compassionate, reliable and resilient Support Workers to join our supported accommodation services in London.Our approach is built around safeguarding, respect, equality, consistency and positive outcomes. We support young people as they develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to move towards adulthood and independent living. As a Support Worker, you will work directly with young people, providing practical and emotional support while helping them develop essential independent-living skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting young people with day-to-day independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, shopping and attending appointments
- Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with young people
- Undertaking planned key-work sessions and supporting young people to work towards agreed goals
- Encouraging education, training, employment and positive activities
- Supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience and independence
- Maintaining a safe, welcoming and supportive living environment
- Following safeguarding procedures and responding appropriately to concerns or risks
- Maintaining accurate records, daily notes and other required documentation
- Working collaboratively with social workers, managers and other professionals
- Contributing to support plans, risk assessments and reviews
- Supporting young people with appointments and community-based activities
- Working flexibly as part of a rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts
Applicants should have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or an equivalent relevant qualification
- At least 1 year’s relevant experience supporting young people or working within a similar care, support or residential setting
- A full UK driving licence (desirable)
- A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to maintain accurate records and follow policies and procedures
- A calm, patient and resilient approach when working with challenging situations
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
Safeguarding training is desirable, although further training will be provided.
