Employment Paralegal, Birmingham, £24,000 – £28,000 DOE, Excellent training

The Firm

A Legal 500 recognised law firm is looking to strengthen its Birmingham Employment Team with an ambitious Employment Paralegal. The firm has built a strong reputation for challenging traditional approaches to legal services and is a ground breaker when it comes to legal technology. Combining high-quality legal expertise with innovative technology and a commercially focused approach, the firm offers an environment where ambitious junior lawyers can develop their careers while gaining exposure to a modern way of delivering legal services.

The Role

  • Join an established and highly regarded Employment Team based in Birmingham.
  • Work predominantly on defendant-side employment matters, representing and advising employers and businesses.
  • Support solicitors across a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Assist with Employment Tribunal claims, from ACAS Early Conciliation through to hearings.
  • Gain exposure to unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE and breach of contract matters.
  • Assist with the preparation of pleadings, witness statements, chronologies, bundles and legal correspondence.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and prepare case summaries.
  • Assist with settlement agreements, employment contracts, policies and HR-related advice.
  • Review and organise evidence and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with employer clients, colleagues and third parties.
  • Develop your understanding of the commercial and legal risks facing employers.
  • Work within a firm that embraces technology and continually looks for innovative ways to improve the delivery of legal services.
If you could spend your first year working predominantly on the defendant side of employment disputes while receiving excellent training from experienced employment lawyers, how much could that accelerate your development?

You

  • Have a law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Have previous paralegal or legal experience, ideally within employment law or litigation.
  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in employment law.
  • Possess strong legal research, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Are commercially aware and interested in understanding the wider impact of employment disputes on businesses.
  • Are proactive, motivated and keen to take responsibility.
  • Are comfortable working in an environment that embraces technology and innovation.
  • Have the ambition to progress your career within employment law.
  • Previous experience of Employment Tribunal proceedings would be advantageous but is not essential.
And if you knew that previous paralegals within the team have successfully progressed towards qualification, wouldn't this be the kind of platform you'd want to build your legal career on?

Benefits

  • £24,000 – £28,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Excellent training and development.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Opportunity to join a Legal 500 recognised firm.
  • Predominantly defendant-side employment work, advising and representing employers.
  • Exposure to both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Hands-on experience of Employment Tribunal proceedings.
  • Opportunity to work on complex employment disputes involving discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal and TUPE.
  • Support and development from experienced employment lawyers.
  • Exposure to a broad range of employment issues and commercial clients.
  • Opportunity to develop commercial awareness alongside technical legal skills.
  • Work within a firm recognised for its innovative approach to legal technology.
  • Collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Genuine opportunities for long-term career progression.
  • The chance to develop towards a future career as an employment solicitor.
