Aspire People are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Kings Heath, Birmingham. The successful candidate will be required to work within a Year 2 classroom on a long-term, full-time basis, providing consistent support to pupils and working closely alongside the class teacher.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development and is looking for a stable, long-term position within a primary school environment.
The Role
As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of engaging lessons and ensure that all pupils receive the appropriate support to make progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils across the Year 2 curriculum, including English and Mathematics.
Providing targeted support to individuals and small groups where required.
Supporting pupils with reading, phonics, writing and numeracy activities.
Helping pupils to remain focused, engaged and motivated during lessons.
Supporting children who need additional support including emotional and behavioural support.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a caring, reliable and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting children and helping them achieve their full potential.
Previous experience working within a primary school is highly desirable, particularly experience supporting Year 2 or Key Stage 1 pupils.
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working with primary-aged children.
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Experience supporting pupils within KS1 / Year 2.
A good understanding of the primary school curriculum.
Confidence supporting phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
A patient, nurturing and positive approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the classroom.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A reliable and professional approach to their work.
