- Ensure all statutory obligations are being met and that compliance activity is completed within required timescales.
- Oversee external contractors, challenging performance where necessary and ensuring agreed service levels are maintained.
- Review compliance information and certification, ensuring records are complete, accurate and suitable for audit and regulatory scrutiny.
- Investigate areas of non-compliance and put appropriate action plans in place to resolve issues.
- Contribute to the organisation's wider building safety and risk management arrangements.
- Provide regular updates and management information on compliance performance, risks and emerging issues.
- Work with colleagues to resolve customer concerns, complaints and escalated cases relating to safety and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, performance and value for money across the compliance function.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maintain safe homes and a high-quality service.
About You
- A strong background in housing compliance, ideally within a housing association, local authority or similarly regulated organisation.
- Broad knowledge across areas such as gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene and lift safety.
- Experience overseeing contractors and holding suppliers accountable for delivery and performance.
- A good understanding of current health & safety and building safety legislation affecting social housing.
- Experience working with compliance databases, certification and asset information.
- The ability to analyse information, identify potential risks and take decisive action to address issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with senior colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple compliance programmes simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to improving services rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
- A relevant qualification within compliance, health & safety, housing or building safety.
