Payroll Implementation Consultant 

Salary: £36,000 – £50,000
Location: Birmingham 
Working Pattern: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on how to improve and modernise their payroll operations
• Assess existing payroll setups and identify gaps, risks and opportunities for change
• Help clients select and implement payroll and workforce management technology
• Provide specialist input across payroll projects, audits and transformation programmes
• Work alongside project teams to help deliver complex client engagements from start to finish
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and act as a trusted payroll advisor
• Support business development through proposals, tenders, presentations and client meetings
• Contribute to developing new payroll solutions, processes and industry best practice

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced payroll professional with a strong background in UK payroll operations
• Someone who understands payroll beyond processing, including controls, compliance, systems and wider business impact
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Comfortable analysing large volumes of payroll data and using Excel to identify trends, issues and discrepancies
• Confident working with payroll technology and systems, with exposure to platforms such as Workday, Oracle, SAP or Dayforce
• Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients
• Naturally curious and commercially minded, with an interest in technology, transformation and improving payroll functions
• Previous experience in consulting, implementation, transformation or payroll technology would be a strong advantage
• International payroll exposure would be beneficial
