About the Company

An established specialist contractor operating across the UK is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.

The business specialises in demolition, decommissioning, remediation, enabling works, asbestos removal, soft strip and waste management, delivering projects across a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, public sector and residential.

The company has a strong pipeline of work and delivers projects ranging from smaller specialist schemes through to multi-million-pound contracts.



The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to completion and final account.

You'll work closely with the Project Management and Site teams to maintain strong commercial control, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure projects are delivered profitably.



Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of projects from tender through to final account
  • Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports
  • Preparing valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing variations and commercial changes
  • Subcontract procurement and account management
  • Reviewing subcontractor applications and payments
  • Preparing monthly CVRs and monitoring project performance
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Managing final accounts
  • Reviewing contracts, scopes and tender documentation
  • Supporting tender submissions and pre-contract activities
  • Working closely with operational teams to maintain commercial control
  • Managing contractual correspondence and notices
  • Monitoring costs against budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting value engineering and procurement strategies


About You

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor with experience within a contracting environment, ideally gained within demolition, remediation, civil engineering, groundworks, enabling works or another specialist construction sector.

However, candidates from a broader main contracting or specialist contracting background will also be considered if they have strong commercial experience.

You'll ideally have experience with:

  • Valuations and applications for payment
  • CVRs and forecasting
  • Variations and change management
  • Subcontractor procurement and management
  • Final accounts
  • Cost control and reporting
  • Contractual/commercial management
  • Microsoft Excel
