An established public-sector building consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Registered Building Inspector to strengthen their Building Control service. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional team responsible for delivering statutory Building Control services across a varied portfolio of projects.
The Registered Building Inspector RoleYou will undertake statutory duties in accordance with the Building Act 1984, Building Safety Act 2022, Building Inspector Competence Framework, Operational Standards and associated Building Regulations.
The position will involve undertaking restricted and unrestricted activities appropriate to your registration and competence. You will assess Building Regulations compliance, carry out site inspections and provide professional technical advice to developers, construction professionals and duty holders.
You will liaise with the Building Safety Regulator, Planning Authority, Fire Authority and Water Authority, while supporting enforcement activity relating to non-compliant works and dangerous structures. You will manage your own workload across site, office and remote environments, maintain accurate records and support the development of less experienced team members where appropriate.
The Registered Building Inspector ExperienceThe successful candidate will require:
- A minimum Class 2A Building Inspector registration/licence, or above
- Previous professional experience within Building Control
- An up-to-date portfolio demonstrating relevant competence
- Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations and associated legislation
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials and technology
- Understanding of dangerous structures legislation and procedures
- Strong communication, negotiation and report-writing skills
- Good time management, workload planning and IT skills
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- £35,412 - £44,075 + £5,000
