An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Senior Credit Controller to join a highly respected and growing professional services organisation based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced credit professional who is looking to take the next step in their career, gain greater exposure to senior stakeholders, and play a key role in driving cash collection and working capital performance across the business.

Working within a collaborative Finance function, you will take full ownership of a varied and high-value ledger, managing the full credit control process from client onboarding and credit assessments through to cash allocation, account reconciliations, debt collection, and dispute resolution. You will build strong relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders, working proactively to identify potential payment barriers before invoices become overdue and taking ownership of aged debt through to resolution. As a senior member of the team, you will have significant exposure to senior business leaders, Partners, Directors, and the wider Finance function. You will regularly review aged debt and cash collection performance, providing clear reporting and insight into areas of risk and identifying where further action or escalation is required.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience working within a Credit Control, Accounts Receivable position, ideally within a professional services or other complex, high-value environment where relationship management and commercial awareness are key.
  • Strong understanding of the full credit control lifecycle, including client onboarding, credit assessments, credit limit reviews, debt collection, cash allocation, account reconciliations, and effective management of aged debt.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing outstanding debt and delivering strong cash collection results, with the confidence to proactively chase overdue balances and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Strong experience producing and analysing aged debt, cash collection, credit risk, and management information reports, using data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, with excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a consistently high level of accuracy.

What You Will Receive

  • The opportunity to join a highly respected and growing organisation where you will play a key role in supporting financial performance and have genuine visibility across the wider business.
  • A varied and commercially focused Senior Credit Controller position offering exposure to senior stakeholders, complex client relationships, credit risk, cash flow management, and wider financial processes.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements designed to support a healthy work-life balance, alongside family-friendly policies and a supportive approach to employee wellbeing.
  • Professional development support, including professional membership subscriptions and opportunities to continue working towards relevant qualifications such as CICM or AAT.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced Finance and operational professionals, building a strong internal network and developing your commercial and stakeholder management skills.

Summary

If you're an experienced Credit Controller looking for a Senior-level opportunity where you can take ownership, influence stakeholders, and make a genuine impact on cash flow performance, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
