An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Accounts Assistant to join within a highly respected organisation based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accounting professional who is looking to develop their career within a specialist environment, gaining exposure to a diverse range of accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.

Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring accounting services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and to consistently high standards. You will manage and maintain complete financial records, ensuring all accounting processes are carried out in line with client requirements and legislation. Your responsibilities will include financial reports, including client statements, profit and loss and balance sheet reporting, VAT and other tax reporting, and a range of financial reconciliations. Working closely with internal teams, and other stakeholders, you will take ownership of queries and help identify practical solutions to ensure an excellent level of service is consistently delivered. This is a varied role that will give you the opportunity to develop your technical accounting knowledge while gaining valuable experience.

Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles, with some experience of general ledger transactions and wider transactional finance processes being highly beneficial.
  • Experience producing and maintaining accurate financial records, with the ability to complete reconciliations and work confidently with detailed financial information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work to tight deadlines, and consistently deliver against agreed SLAs and KPIs.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to take ownership of responsibilities while also working collaboratively as part of a wider finance team.
