Contracts Director required for a Civil Engineering contractor

Starting base salary of £210k plus 9k car allowance and bonus

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Contracts Director to lead our organization's contract management initiatives. In this vital role, you will oversee the negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex contracts across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with legal standards and organizational policies. Your leadership will drive efficiency, mitigate risks, and foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape our contractual strategies and contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, review, and negotiation of contracts to secure favorable terms while safeguarding organizational interests.
  • Manage a team of contract specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of work.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, legal teams, procurement officers, and stakeholders to align contract strategies with project goals.
  • Oversee contract lifecycle processes using tools like Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite to monitor deadlines, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for contract management that promote consistency and efficiency across all projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to contractual obligations and proactively address potential issues before they escalate.
  • Maintain organized records of all contractual documents using advanced organizational skills and IT systems for easy retrieval and audit readiness.

Skills

  • Proven management experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment with strong leadership qualities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes positively for all parties involved.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office tools for project tracking and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly articulate contract terms and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles within civil engineering construction or related industries.
  • Ability to demonstrate time management skills by prioritizing tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Construction experience is highly desirable to understand technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Valid driving license preferred for site visits or meetings at various project locations.
