We are currently recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join a busy and fast-paced finance team based in Birmingham City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys building strong customer relationships, managing a high-volume ledger, and driving cash collection performance.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external clients, you will play a key role in maintaining cash flow, resolving account queries, and ensuring outstanding balances are collected efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts.
- Chasing outstanding debt via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers to ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Investigating and resolving invoice queries and payment disputes.
- Allocating incoming payments and reconciling customer accounts.
- Negotiating payment plans where appropriate.
- Monitoring aged debt reports and escalating overdue accounts when necessary.
- Producing regular debtor reports for management.
- Working closely with operational teams to resolve billing issues and remove barriers to payment.
- Maintaining accurate customer account records and detailed collection notes.
- Supporting month-end processes and cash flow reporting activities.
- Previous Credit Control experience is essential.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Confident liaising with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage a large ledger and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative finance team.
- Immediately available or available at short notice preferred.
- Birmingham City Centre location.
