Our client, a leading infrastructure and engineering organisation, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of major engineering and infrastructure projects from their Birmingham (B37) location.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for managing design activities from inception through to delivery, ensuring projects are coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Responsibilities- Own and manage the design programme across project activities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
- Lead design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
- Ensure design deliverables meet project and client requirements.
- Manage design assurance processes and technical approvals.
- Coordinate interfaces between design, commercial, planning and delivery teams.
- Manage design risks and support safe-by-design initiatives.
- Monitor design progress and resolve issues proactively.
- Support change control and design governance activities.
- Manage technical queries, document control and design communications.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Minimum 8 years' experience within Design Management or a similar position.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong programme management and coordination skills.
- Experience leading stakeholders across design and delivery functions.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project controls.
- Knowledge of design assurance and compliance requirements.
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced project environments.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or similar preferred.
- Experience working within highly regulated sectors would be beneficial.
- £400 per day (Inside IR35)
- 3-6 month contract

- Hybrid working with 3 days per week on site in Birmingham (B37)
