Job Title: Interim Financial Controller

Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Interim Financial Controller to support the financial management of our client who are an SME business. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the finance function.

This role requires a proactive finance professional with excellent technical accounting skills and demonstrable expertise in Sage 200.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present quarterly accounts.
• Produce profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, and KPI reports.
• Monitor financial performance and provide analysis and recommendations to management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Financial Control

• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, processes, and procedures.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Oversee company cash flow and working capital management.
• Monitor budgets and support forecasting activities.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved financial efficiency.

Sage 200 Management

• Key user for Sage 200.
• Manage and optimise Sage 200 financial systems and reporting functionality.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data within Sage 200.
• Support system enhancements, process improvements, and reporting developments.
• Provide guidance and training to internal users where required.

Operational Finance

• Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, payroll liaison, and banking activities.
• Manage VAT returns and statutory submissions.
• Support external auditors, accountants, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure timely completion of financial reporting requirements.

Business Partnering

• Work closely with the business owner and senior management team.
• Provide commercial analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Support business improvement projects and operational initiatives.

Person Specification Essential Experience

• Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Experience working within a small or SME business environment.
• Demonstrable expertise using Sage 200.
• Experience managing cash flow and budgets.

Essential Skills

• Advanced Sage 200 user.
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Salary/Day Rate: £300pd

Contract Length: On-going
