Are you a fixed assets specialist with strong experience in the housing sector? Have you supported a finance system implementation or major data migration? Could you take ownership of a complex fixed asset workstream and get it ready for go-live?

We're delighted to be supporting a housing provider in the West Midlands recruitment of an Interim Fixed Assets Project Accountant for an initial six-month assignment. The organisation is in the middle of a major transformation programme, and this role will take responsibility for ensuring its substantial fixed asset data is cleansed, reconciled, migrated and operating effectively in the new system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and cleansing legacy fixed asset data ahead of migration
  • Reconciling fixed asset records to the general ledger and resolving historic discrepancies
  • Supporting the migration of housing and non-housing assets into the new finance system
  • Testing fixed asset functionality and ensuring migrated balances and data are accurate
  • Supporting the design of future fixed asset structures, components and useful economic lives
  • Working with finance, systems and reporting colleagues to ensure fixed assets integrate effectively with the wider finance system
  • Improving fixed asset reporting, controls, processes and documentation
  • Supporting the development of fixed asset policies and ensuring knowledge is successfully transferred into the permanent team

This is a substantial fixed asset environment, with a large property portfolio, complex component accounting and significant historic data challenges. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape how fixed assets are managed in the new system and leave behind a considerably more robust and efficient process.

To be considered, please meet the following criteria:

  • Significant fixed asset accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of housing property accounting and component accounting
  • Previous housing association or social housing experience
  • Experience supporting a finance system implementation, migration or major systems change
  • Strong reconciliation, data cleansing and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work effectively across finance, systems and project teams
  • Qualified or highly experienced part-qualified accountant

The assignment is expected to run for approximately six months, with flexibility around engagement structure. The role can be delivered predominantly remotely, with only occasional travel to the West Midlands office likely to be required.

If you're an experienced fixed assets specialist who enjoys getting under the skin of complex data, systems and accounting issues, we'd love to hear from you.
