The successful candidate will work closely with programme delivery teams, technical consultants, contractors and stakeholders to coordinate environmental activities and support the production of key environmental documentation.

A key focus of the role will be ensuring the successful development and delivery of the Environmental Statement, coordinating environmental assessments and surveys, and ensuring environmental requirements are fully integrated into project design and planning activities.

You will provide technical expertise and work collaboratively with delivery teams and specialist consultants to support planning, consenting and compliance activities while helping to ensure programme objectives are achieved within agreed timescales.

  • Coordinate environmental disciplines and specialist consultants to ensure consistency across project outputs.
  • Ensure environmental requirements and constraints are identified and incorporated into project design and construction planning.
  • Support the integration of environmental considerations into the development of transport and supporting infrastructure schemes.
  • Ensure safety, CDM regulations and Safe by Design principles are embedded throughout all stages of project development.
  • Provide technical environmental advice to support project development, planning and consenting activities.
  • Coordinate the identification and acquisition of environmental consents, licences and approvals required to support project delivery.

Skills & Experience Essential

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience coordinating environmental activities on major infrastructure, transport or regeneration projects.
  • Experience supporting the preparation and delivery of Environmental Statements.
  • Knowledge and experience of Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) processes, planning and consenting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Experience managing environmental consultants and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to identify, manage and mitigate environmental risks and issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
